Rose Shack · A Rhode Island spring favorite
A little stop.
A lot of spring.
One for your Rhode Island spring list: flowers for a host, a gift for your mother-in-law, and a photograph worth keeping.
Some stops deserve a place in the family album as well as the shopping bag.

Put it on the spring list.
Yellow tulips. Pink and white hyacinths. A little shed with FLOWERS across the roof. Our photograph from Rose Shack in Saunderstown has the sort of color that makes you forget how recently you were scraping the windshield.
And there are James and Michael in the middle of it. James was smaller then; the smile is the part I keep coming back to.
For us, this is a must-do Rhode Island stop in spring. Come for something growing, leave with a present, and take a photograph while you are there. It need not become an entire day's itinerary.
A gift that looks like spring.
Heading to somebody's house? Looking for a gift for your mother-in-law? This is exactly the sort of place I would put on the list. Choose a flowering plant that suits the recipient's space and gardening ambitions. A small pot of color can be quite enough.
Ask what is looking its best that week, whether it belongs indoors or outside, and how to care for it. The lovely part is bringing something alive to the door. The useful part is knowing where it should go afterward.

Still operating: the official website announces its 2026 season and lists daily hours of 8 a.m.–5 p.m., along with annuals, perennials, shrubs, containers, herbs and vegetables. Gift certificates are also listed as available in store or by phone.
For a future spring visit, check the season's opening date and hours before setting out. Flower varieties and stock change with the season; the tulips and hyacinths in our earlier photograph are not a promise of today's selection.
A practical note: our photograph shows a gravel surface around the outdoor displays. If firm footing or step-free access matters for your visit, call about the route from parking to the plants and checkout. We have not verified restroom or changing facilities.
Business information checked October 19, 2026 against Rose Shack's official website. This is a family recollection and recommendation, not a recent visit report or an accessibility audit.
