The older-teen edit
High support needs. Still a teenager.
We look for sensory, adaptive, clothing, tech and participation products that are genuinely accessible without making an older teen look or feel unnecessarily young.
Sensory that grows up
Movement, pressure, tactile, visual and cause-and-effect products with enough payoff to justify the setup — and without a preschool aesthetic when it is not necessary.
Adaptive without advertising it
Clothing, footwear, closures and daily-living products that reduce effort while still looking like ordinary teen or adult products.
Tech + communication
AAC-adjacent accessories, visual schedules, headphones, smart displays, safety/location tools and technology judged by access, not feature count.
Simple participation
Cooking, gifts, activities and home tasks where open, pour, place, stir, choose or assemble can be a real role.
The test
Can the product meet the person where they are?
- Few steps between interest and payoff
- Low reading and language demand when possible
- Reasonable fine/gross motor demands
- Clear sensory or functional reward
- Low frustration when something goes wrong
- Age-respectful design and presentation
- Caregiver setup that does not become the whole activity
For product teams
We are especially interested in gifted or loaned review units where high-support older-teen usability is a real design question, not a marketing afterthought.
