Make our visit plan →Battle Road: local history without the field-trip energy
Lincoln / Concord / Lexington, Massachusetts
You do not have to ‘do’ the whole Revolutionary War. Pick one trailhead, one piece of history, maybe one ranger program, and let the woods and old road do the rest.
The easiest version of the day
Four beats. Nothing heroic.
Hartwell Tavern/Battle Road is a clean local version; North Bridge can be another day.
Take the accessible portion that works and turn back whenever you want.
One sign, one ranger talk or the visitor-center film is enough context.
The car is never supposed to be five attractions away.
Accessibility field notes
What actually changes the visit.
- Minute Man Visitor Center and North Bridge Visitor Center are wheelchair accessible, with accessible parking and restrooms across the park.
- Trails mix paved and unpaved surfaces; some places are narrow, uneven, steep or stepped.
- The Battle Road area around Hartwell Tavern is wheelchair accessible, but the nearly 290-year-old tavern building itself is not.
- Hartwell Tavern’s parking lot has four ADA-designated van-accessible spaces.
Accessibility is specific to the person and to current conditions. Confirm anything that would determine whether the visit can work.
