Oh, this birthday. Looking back at these photographs makes me so grateful all over again.
James’s great love of Lilo & Stitch made the theme an easy decision. We rented out the Children’s Museum of Greater Fall River and gathered everyone together to celebrate him.
At the time, Lilo & Stitch wasn’t nearly as popular a party theme, so I made the decorations myself. Pineapple cups, flowers, tropical leaves, and Stitch himself at the table. A little February escape, right in Fall River.

There was the party, and there was a whole museum to explore. I love having both kinds of photographs: the table before everyone arrived, when you could still see all the work that went into it, and the room with everyone gathered around it.

What stays with me most is everyone who helped make it special. When you’re planning a celebration for your child, you hope they’ll feel happy, welcomed, and surrounded by people who love them. We’re still so grateful to everyone who showed up for James and celebrated with us—and, of course, to the museum staff for helping make it such a lovely day.

A birthday built around something he loved, with people who love him. That’s a memory I’ll always treasure.
Thinking about a museum birthday?
Start with what your child enjoys, then ask the venue about the details that would help your family: private use, a place to take a break, entrances and exits, and time to set up. Our party is a family memory from 2019; confirm today’s arrangements directly.
The museum is at 441 North Main Street, Fall River, Massachusetts. Its official party page lists party options and what families should bring. Check its current food and decoration rules before buying supplies.
